Modeling of convection

The Llama and I consider Professor Wolfgang Bangerth to be one of our intellectual and professional role models. He allows the Llama and I to attend his research group meetings, and he's a member of my advisory committee. He just posted a beautiful video depicting convection solved using the ASPECT and deal.ii software libraries that he develops for.

The "About" section from the video:
"Convection in a box with heated bottom and cooled top. Solved with the finite element code ASPECT (http://aspect.dealii.org) using the 3dbox.prm input file set up by Timo Heister. Simulation by Wolfgang Bangerth on 64 cores. The simulation has ~10M unknowns and runs for ~10,000 time steps. Further discussion in the Aspect manual."
